Mia S. Willis is a Black queer performance poet, beatmaker, and popular educator from Charlotte, North Carolina. A two-time nominee for The Pushcart Prize and for Sundress Publications’ Best of the Net anthology, Mia is also the author of monster house. (Jai-Alai Books), the 2018 winner of the Cave Canem Foundation’s Toi Derricotte & Cornelius Eady Chapbook Prize. When they are not word-smithing, Mia is digging in the crates and cooking up lofi hip hop and boom bap beats with a modest collection of vintage hardware samplers. Their debut full-length poetry collection and self-produced spoken word album are forthcoming.
